There are six endings, some of which require you to be very skillful in your choices. You meet your former high school crush while trying to deal with a business deal that may or may not fall through. Through conversation with her you discover that things are a bit more complicated than they appear. In the end, will you win the girl? Keep your job? Make a fool of yourself?. There is nothing nice to say about this VN. I tried to think of something nice to say, but I just can't come up with anything.Let's see ...- Subpar writing- Boring story plot- Boring characters- Poor story-telling methods for character development- A lot of choices seem arbitrary in how they affect the ending(s)- All playthroughs are alike with the exception of slight dialogue changes from different choices and the endings are just a paragraph epilogue- Skip mode skips everything, not just read text- The credits are particularly slow and seemingly unskippable- The last achievement is glitched- This is supposed to be a romance VN, but because the story doesn't get you to care about the characters, it doesn't elicit any kind of emotional reaction while readingTo be fair, I didn't play it with sound, so I suppose the music and voice acting might be okay, but even if it is, it wouldn't be enough to redeem itself.. There is so many bad things here that I don't know where to start. So I will just list some things that I disliked: - Voice acting is terrible. I felt like those people were reading vacuum cleaner adwert. No emotions at all. Terrible accent. Sometimes it's better to make VN without voice acting at all. - Background music could take part in music competitions for "elevator music". I had to mute it realy fast. - This VN is lacking all important settings. For example you can't choose to stop skipping after chices or if you haven't read text yet. - You can't rewind text that you have already read. So if you missed something you have to load savegame. - You can't skip subtitles (and if you want to get all endings - that kinda sucks). - To change music/voice level you have to quit to main menu first. - Story doesn't make sense. - At one point main character says that he didn't even know the name of the woman he was talking with. Fun fact - she had her NAME pinned to her jacked for the whole time! Whoever wrote that could read it before publishing. This is just terrible. Avoid.. This one was a rather surprising VN really. Not like a lot of the other ones I have played in the past, not at all, and I like that a lot. We are presented with a protagonist who is seemingly a very normal man, a salesman in the steel pipes business, this is clearly done to show us that he’s an everyman that any of us can identify with. The story is about him meeting up with a lost love on a business trip and depending on what your decisions are during the trip, different outcomes happen. Now this is not a surprise as that is what Visual Novels are about, the surprising bit is how staunch and strong the ideals and views of the characters are. In this type of “pretty” VN you’d rarely get characters that have such definite ideals and convictions, and for me that makes this a real diamond in the rough. I applaud the developers and publishers for publishing such a game, as I know many studios may feel that it would be quite risky to do so.As for production values it seems nice enough and a lot of the other reviewers have already touched on that so I don’t want to repeat what they’ve said. One of the other reviewers said she found a bug in the game but I’ve had a few playthroughs and so far nothing! Maybe the developers already fixed it!. This is a boring garbage fire. So much wrong here It pains me.From the stupid opening, the horrible VO work, the lazy art, the horrible story and the worst end credit ever. I hated this VN. Don't buy this. Run. Even if it's free, RUN.Full review here, but don't bother. It just says more of the same. Get away from this steam store page. Hurry. http://nardio.net/2017/02/10/one-last-chance-visual-novel-review/. quot; You should throw that away!"Terrible voice acting, cheap backgrounds, really boring story. Not worth it.. There's nothing inherently wrong with the game, but this review is especially opinionated. The thing that physically affected me was ♥♥♥♥ing Tara, who is the main girl. I,...her outlook on life is ♥♥♥♥y, like. She really plays the victim card and throws a lot of blame on the main character, which is stupid as hell. (SPOILER WARNING) She didn't have to stay married to a rich asshat douchecanoe. She knew what her feelings were, but didn't act on them, because women usually love to be chased and confessed to and keeping♥♥♥♥♥♥to themselves. ♥♥♥♥ing right, ok, real cool. No, the only pass she gets is the things that were out of her control, like when she had to move to Hong Kong before she graduated and what not. Stop perpetuating whatever the hell people think how girls should be. They can be pursuers, pretty much overall, they have just as much complete control over their lives as anyone else. Her ideals weren't sweet to me, I considered them foolish, admittedly. Through the endings that I got, I accepted what I'd been shown, therefore, I stopped the whole "but it's for the story and completion" ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥t. There is an ending where the two characters end up together, reunited, it's destiny, yaaaaay, happy happy. No! Just, if it was real life, and if it were me, I'd have known enough about her to realize the boundaries and honestly, remain friends in the best case scenario. Sorry, there's no helping her. Personally, the 6th ending is the one I find to be most satisfying. You've met up after so long, you catch up, she confides in you, everything stays platonic and mutual, your business prevails, and there are no consequences or repercussions. Unless you count losing your chance to be with her, but the main character handles it extremely maturely and thinks matter-of-factly. It's not selfish, he's not an♥♥♥♥♥for rejecting her. Given the situation, he understands that it was just a fleeting high school crush, and that that opportunity had come and gone. Not everything works out perfectly in the end. Look, I know that becuase these are stories, they are allowed to ignore implications present in reality, but it was almost painful to watch some of this♥♥♥♥♥♥be carried out. Another point, yes, some of us read these for the very reason being that things can work out and make us hopeful about things, but I guess I'm just not detached enough from reality. Maybe my own experiences with love keep me grounded. To reiterate and to conclude, the visual novel is not a bad one per se, but more often than not, opinions heavily influence overall perception and reception. I am choosing not to recommend it, because I had an unpleasant experience. Y'all play it and think what you want, that's the beauty of things.. While this is free, I would suggest you only play it if you are extremely easily entertained or if you honestly have nothing better to do. The story is bland, twee, and I could not stand Tara. While the voice actor for her character didn't stumble, the accent and inflection grated on my nerves. While the art is nice enough it can be difficult to read the text. Poor choice of colour for the most part. It doesn't always show up well on top of the background. The music is decent. I don't have much to say for or against it. About the only amusement I got was reading the fishy puns you get to choose from at one point. If this story had a bit more depth then perhaps I would have found it endearing. As it is, I found it about as interesting as listening to some distant cousin complaining about her humdrum social life.. I can't recommend this visual novel, even if i liked the story and the characters. The problem is the interface. The skip button also skip unread text ! And there isn't a real fullscreen and you have to use the option menu to hide text.... First, I must say that I loved the BGM (expect for the last song, I really disliked the vocals.. Sorry) and the art style. But the story and its characters… Err.The story is really short and everything is so forced. Tara is an annoying character, and I couldn’t care less about her. The endings were also rushed. Oh, and there’s the VA; it was terrible. Like really, really bad. The text is also a pain to read; to be honest it’s almost unreadable. I don’t mind the Tyrano engine, I know it’s a very basic one and that’s ok. The problem here was the story, dialogue, and the choice of font colors.2/10.
